If you need a crown and have had one before, you may think you’ll need to wear a temporary crown for a while. That’s no longer necessary thanks to CEREC® same-day technology.

Do you need a dental crown? Even with good oral hygiene, you can still get cavities or experience issues like cracked or damaged teeth.

If you’ve had crowns in the past, you probably needed more than one dental appointment to complete the process. You had to get a temporary crown while waiting for a lab to create the permanent one and ship it to your dentist.

Say goodbye to multiple dental appointments for a crown. Jason Ray, DDS, uses CEREC® technology to complete your crown in one dental visit

Process for a traditional crown

You need a crown to cover a cracked or otherwise damaged tooth or a tooth that has too much decay for a simple filling to repair. Crowns restore a weakened tooth and enhance its appearance and shape.

Getting a traditional crown entails two or three appointments. The first visit prepares the affected tooth. We take an impression or mold of your tooth and mouth so a permanent crown can be created.

Your dentist files away a bit of the enamel so the crown fits properly. We place a temporary crown on the nub of the tooth. You return for your final appointment after the permanent crown is created at a dental lab and sent to us.

Same-day crowns

Anyone can get a same-day crown thanks to modern technology. Dr. Ray offers same-day crowns, providing modern convenience and comfort. As with traditional crowns, we prepare the tooth by shaving off or reducing its size slightly so it can accommodate the crown.

We then use a 3D scanner to scan your teeth and mouth. You no longer have to stick your teeth in a messy mold to make a dental impression of your teeth; that was 20th-century technology.

Dr. Ray uses CEREC to mill your permanent crown right in our office. Goodbye to multiple appointments, messy goop in your mouth, and temporary crowns.

Crowns are long-lasting and provide a natural appearance

Dr. Ray uses long-lasting porcelain for your crown. We match the color to your surrounding teeth so the crown looks completely natural.

Your crown may last a lifetime with good oral hygiene, which includes dental cleanings at least every six months to remove any tartar that won’t budge with brushing and flossing. Extend the longevity of your crown by avoiding hard foods like hard candies and unpopped popcorn kernels.
